Maldives, Singapore sign MoUs on transport cooperation

Ministry of Transport and Civil Aviation has signed two memoranda of understanding (MoUs) on transport cooperation with the Ministry of Transport of Singapore.

At a special ceremony, Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation Aishath Nahula and Minister of Transport S. Iswaran signed the MoUs on transport cooperation, and on aircraft accident and incident investigation. Under the MoUs, the Maldives and Singapore will strengthen cooperation in the area of transport, including aviation-related training, maritime technical assistance, road and traffic management, and aircraft accident and incident investigation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Nahula said the signing of the MoUs is a demonstration of commitment towards greater collaboration between the Maldives and Singapore and that it will spur a further exchange of ideas and best practices in the area of transport.

Meanwhile, Minister Iswaran said Singapore and the Maldives share strong and longstanding bilateral ties as small island states and that the MoUs will enable the two countries to deepen their transport relations and cooperation.
