HPA requests to complete booster doses before Ramadan

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has advised all eligible individuals to undertake booster doses of the COVID-19 vaccine before Ramadan.

HPA has made changes to the opening hours of vaccination centres in the Greater Male' Region during Ramadan. As such, the vaccine will be administered at Dharumavantha Hospital and Hulhumale' Hospital during Ramadan. The two hospitals will provide vaccines from 2100hrs to 2300hrs.

HPA said that as the holy month of Ramadan is a time when many people travel for Umrah pilgrimage, it is important for those who depart to administer booster doses of COVID-19 two weeks prior to departure. The agency also instructed those who depart for Umrah during Ramadan to be cautious to complete the vaccine doses. HPA has instructed those who depart to Umrah to administer booster doses two weeks before the date of departure if six months have passed since the second dose was administered.

HPA said 143,000 individuals have received booster doses. The statistics also show that more than 371,400 have received two doses of the vaccine, while more than 398,000 people have been administered the first doses of the vaccine.
