Maldives Immigration has eased the procedures for Umrah pilgrims applying for new passports.
As per the announcement issued by Immigration, Umrah pilgrims applying for a new passport can submit their application through the online portal Imuga, instead of visiting an Immigration office. The application form must be submitted through the portal, along with a clear copy of both sides of the national identification card, a passport photo taken in accordance to the passport standards and the information page of the old passport. Applicants must also submit a document confirming their Umrah trip.
A large number of people travel to Saudi Arabia for Umrah pilgrimage during Ramadan every year. The Saudi government has lifted the COVID-19 restrictions imposed in Mecca, and permitted pilgrims from all over the world to enter the country once again.
