Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure is seeking a contractor to build 50 housing units in Kurendhoo, Lhaviyani Atoll.

The ministry is seeking a contractor to build 50 housing units on the eastern side of Kurendhoo under a design-and-build policy. The ministry will only accept bids from companies that are registered at the planning ministry. The companies are also required to pay a non-refundable registration fee and bid security of USD17,000 to participate in the bidding process. The bid is scheduled to open on April 13.

Kurendhoo Island Council stated a survey conducted on the island has shown many families are in need of housing, and that there are currently more than two families living in some houses. Kurendhoo has a population of 2,000 residents with 540 registered households.

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih pledged to launch a housing project to solve the housing issue in Kurendhoo during his trip to the island in February.
