Aminadhiyo Health Centre in Ihavandhoo, Haa Alifu Atoll has commenced the services of a consultant pediatrician.
Manager of Aminadhiyo Health Centre Mohamed Akram stated a consultant pediatrician has arrived in Ihavandhoo to join the health centre. Akram said the doctor’s services will be available six days a week, with OPD consultations to be provided between 0900hrs and 1600hrs.
Ihavandhoo, which has a population of 3,300 people, did not previously have pediatric services available on the island. Residents of Ihavandhoo had been travelling by sea to Dhidhdhoo or Kulhudhuffushi to seek the services of a consultant pediatrician. This was a costly trip, especially in an emergency situation.
The Aminadhiyo Health Centre stated the introduction of pediatric services on the island is a major boost to the healthcare services of Ihavandhoo.
