President, First Lady tour Fuvahmulah Nature Park

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed have toured Fuvahmulah Nature Park during their visit to Fuvahmulah City.

During the tour, Fuvahmulah City Council provided information to President Solih and First Lady Fazna on Fuvahmulah Nature Park in regards to its biodiversity and rich historical and cultural significance. The park opened on September 14, 2018, in an area of ecological significance in the Maldives, is one of the first two nature parks to be opened in the country and is home to native wildlife that are unique to the area.

During the tour, Fuvahmulah City Council informed President Solih tour that plans have been made to install walkways and build a convention centre and a visitation centre at the park. The city council also gifted a book on Fuvahmulah Nature Park to the president.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) declared Addu City and Fuvahmulah City as biosphere reserves in 2020.

Fuvahmulah City is the first stop of the four-day trip undertaken by President Solih and First Lady Fazna to the southernmost cities. They are accompanied by a delegation of cabinet ministers and senior officials from the government.
