Gov’t working to improve social fabric of nation: Vice President

Vice President Faisal Naseem has stated the government is continuing efforts to improve the social fabric of the nation. He made the remarks while speaking at a special traditional feast hosted by President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih and First Lady Fazna Ahmed in Fuvahmulah City to celebrate the approach of the month of Ramadan.

Speaking at the event, Vice President Naseem emphasised the government’s continuous efforts in nurturing youth and improving the social fabric of the nation in the past three years, especially in the education sector. The vice president said the government places as much importance on fixing social issues and building a better future generation, as it does on infrastructure development. He also highlighted the numerous projects being conducted in the education and health sectors.

Furthermore, Vice President Naseem noted how the COVID-19 pandemic had hindered the government’s efforts but said it had not slowed down the development projects. He said President Solih wishes to build a future generation where each individual is well-educated and has the potential to become productive members of society.

Additionally, Vice President Naseem said the development of the 50-bed hospital in Fuvahmulah City and its specialty services will also assist in improving the social fabric, and urged all citizens to assist the government in developing the human resources needed in the nation.

Vice President Naseem and a delegation of cabinet ministers and senior government officials are accompanying President Solih and First Lady Fazna on their four-day trip to the southernmost cities.
