MTCC begins fieldwork on Dhaandhoo harbour development

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has begun fieldwork on the harbour development project in Dhaandhoo, Gaafu Alifu Atoll.

Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure contracted MTCC to expand and develop the harbour in Dhaandhoo in January. The agreement was signed by Permanent Secretary Zeeniya Ahmed Hameed and Chief Operating Officer (CEO) of MTCC Adam Azim.

The scope of the work involves 52,099cbm of harbour dredging operations, 4,953cbm of channel dredging operations, construction of a 30m groyne, a 333m breakwater, a 170m revetment, a 529m quay wall, and installation of 1,203sqm of harbor pavement. The work also includes constructing a 100m long and 3m wide concrete jetty, installation of 36 harbour lights, mooring rings, and mooring buoys, as well as the construction of a 10m ramp.

MTCC is tasked with completing the harbour project within one year and four months at a cost of USD4.5 million.
