State Trading Organisation (STO) has reduced the price of lemons sold in the market.
At the beginning of Ramadan, a kilogram of lemon was sold above USD9.71 in Male' City. Since then, the price has not dropped below USD7.77 although the price has decreased over the past two days.
STO said it has imported lemons and reduced the prices down to USD2.91 in an effort to minimise the difficulties faced by the citizens. However, STO has limited the sale of lemons. As such, lemons will be sold from STO Agri Centre and STO People’s Choice. A kilogram of lemon will be sold per person from People’s Choice and three kilograms will be sold per person from the Agri Centre, as per the limitations.
STO said it is selling a fresh lemon shipment brought to the market from abroad.
