Ministry of Finance has issued an announcement seeking contractors to install solar PV systems in 30 islands across four atolls.
The finance ministry announced Solar PV-Diesel Hybrid Power Generation Plants are to be installed in all inhabited islands of Kaafu, Alifu Alifu, Alifu Dhaalu and Vaavu Atoll. The ministry stated contractors are being sought for the design, supply and installation of the systems.
The project to install solar PV systems in 30 islands across four atolls is carried out under the loan assistance of the European Investment Bank (EIB). The project aims to utilise natural resources of the country to produce energy and reduce the consumption of fuel and its impact on the environment.
The project has been allocated a bid security of USD150,000. Bid opening will be carried out on May 19.
The government is carrying out multiple projects across the country to increase the production of renewable energy. The Maldives aims to achieve net zero carbon emission by 2030.
