Asphalt paving underway at Faresmaathoda Airport

Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) has revealed asphalt paving is underway at the runway, apron and taxiway of the Faresmaathoda Airport in Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll.

The development of Faresmaathoda Airport commenced in January last year. The project involves the development of a 200m runway, taxiway and apron, along with the construction of a terminal building and fire building. MTCC revealed asphalt paving is currently ongoing in the runway, which is expected to be completed by the end of this month. The state-owned company stated work on the terminal building and fire building is expected to be completed by the end of May.

Faresmaathoda Airport is being developed to cater to domestic flights. MTCC was contracted to complete the project at a cost of about USD10 million.
