Finance Ministry seeking tablets for census works

The Ministry of Finance has announced the acquisition of over 800 tablets for the census to be held by the Maldives Bureau of Statistics (MBS).

The finance ministry has opened the opportunity to submit bids for the project. The ministry stated the process of seeking a qualified party for the project will be carried out in accordance with the National Competitive Bidding Policy. The finance ministry revealed a non-refundable registration fee of USD32.36 is required to participate in the bid and USD2135.77 is required as bid security. The bid security period is 148 days from the bid opening date.

While the finance ministry has announced the acquisition of over 800 tablets for the census, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) has already donated 100 tablets for use in the census. MBS has revealed that 1,876 tablets are required for the census.

Census of the Maldivian population and residential areas will be carried out by the MBS on September 13-14 for listing operation and main operation on September 17–25, 2022. Some information collected from the census will be published on October 6 and the entire survey will be published on October 20.

MBS has previously stated around 4,400 people are required to work across the country to carry out the census.

The nationwide census was last held in 2014.
