Companies that delay development projects to be blacklisted

Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam has stated companies that fail to complete government development projects within the agreed deadline will be blacklisted. He made the remarks while responding to a question at the Parliament of the Maldives regarding the four-year delay of the sewerage project in Innamaadhoo, Raa Atoll.

Minister Aslam said the Ministry of Finance has formulated a policy to blacklist companies that delay development projects, as some companies fail to complete projects despite many warnings. The minister said blacklisted companies will not be able to participate in the tendering stage.

The new policy attempts to solve the longstanding issue of companies failing to complete government projects within the given deadline.
