Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof has announced the government has decided to develop two futsal pitches in Maafushi Prison.
In a tweet, Minister Mahloof announced the government has handed over resources to Maldives Correctional Service (MCS) to develop two futsal pitches in Maafushi Prison. The minister said the futsal pitches are being developed to enable exercise and sporting opportunities for inmates at the prison. He noted two pitches are being developed separately for inmates and correctional officers.
The government has been developing sports facilities across the country to promote sports and exercise. The development of futsal pitches in Maafushi Prison is also in line with the government’s efforts to rehabilitate inmates and make them useful members of society.
