Projects to be carried out with opinions from council and public

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated the development projects of the government will be carried out with the opinion of the council and the public. He made the remarks at a meeting held with the Himmafushi Island Council.

During the meeting held at the President's Office, discussions were held on the ongoing development projects on the island and the challenges faced by the people of the island. Some of the main concerns raised by the council members at the meeting included the need for improving healthcare services, protecting areas affected by coastal erosion, and developing a beach in addition to a picnic island. They also discussed with the president developing a new building for the council secretariat, a multi-purpose hall for functions and events, improving policing, and developing a stadium with artificial turf.

Speaking at the meeting, President Solih assured the council members of the administration’s commitment to improving healthcare services and addressing the concerns raised at the meeting. The president stated that discussions would be held with relevant government agencies regarding the issues raised by the council members. The president also highlighted that the government's development projects in the islands will be carried out in consultation with the council and the people.
