655 individuals positive for COVID-19 in first week of Ramadan

Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed that 655 individuals were found positive for COVID-19 in the first week of the month of Ramadan.

The latest statistics from HPA show 655 individuals were found positive for COVID-19 from April 3-9 and most of the infections were reported in the atolls. As such, 482 cases were reported in the atolls and 91 cases were reported in the Greater Male’ Region.

In the past week, the highest number of cases in the Greater Male’ Region were reported on April 4 with 20 cases, while the highest number of cases in the atolls and resorts were reported on April 6 with 102 cases. With the latest update, a total of 178,313 individuals have been found positive for COVID-19 since the pandemic began in the country.

As per the latest statistics on HPA, 398,539 individuals have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, representing 88.02% of the eligible population. Meanwhile, 383,809 individuals, or 84.76% of the eligible population, have received the second dose and 157,295 individuals have received a booster dose, representing 34.74% of the eligible population.

HPA stated vaccination centres in the Greater Male’ Region will be open from 0900hrs to 1100hrs on weekdays during the month of Ramadan.
