Gov't assures commitment to ensuring the sports industry thrives

Vice President Faisal Naseem has stated that Maldivian athletes have proved that they can win competing with international competitors. He made the remarks speaking at a function held to officially unveil the logo of the upcoming South Asian Junior and Cadet Table Tennis Championship 2022. The logo for the competition was unveiled at a function held at the table tennis hall of the Hulhumalé Sports Mini Complex.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President reiterated the commitment of the administration to sports development, stating that unprecedented levels of sports development projects are currently ongoing at different stages across the country. He noted the accomplishments in sports development and highlighted the numerous projects underway across the country to develop sports further.

Underscoring the commitment of the administration to encouraging the youth to pursue careers in sports, the Vice President described sports as something that helps promote community development. He then assured the commitment to ensuring the sports industry thrives.

The three-day tournament for junior athletes, held in the Maldives from May 9-12, would feature teams from Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Nepal, Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, and the Maldives.
