President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has inaugurated the Honorary Consuls Scholarship Programme.
The programme aims to provide 44 scholarship opportunities from honorary consuls in India, Thailand, Pakistan, Turkey, Lebanon, and Germany. President Solih inaugurated the programme as part of his pledge to build an educated younger generation.
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, President Solih thanked the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its work in the development of the higher education sector. The president said that the work led by Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid has increased opportunities in higher education for the Maldivian youth.
Also at the ceremony, Minister Shahid thanked the honorary consuls for providing the scholarship opportunities and expressed hope that the consuls will provide further opportunities in the future.
