Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali has stated that students should aim to contribute to their community and the nation. She made the remarks while speaking at the ceremony held on the occasion of the 95th anniversary of Majeediyya School.
Speaking at the ceremony, Minister Aishath noted that many citizens who have made important contributions to the nation were students of Majeediyya School and that many of them continue to serve the nation. She also highlighted that every president, except for one, was a student of Majeediyya School and said every student should have a spirit of serving the nation while also progressing in their education and work.
Also at the ceremony, Graduate of Majeediyya School Hamdhoon Hameed said the school has been interwoven in the history of the Maldives and that students should find inspiration from the contributions made by the school’s graduates. He said that the students of Maeediyya School are exemplary in their teamwork and cooperative spirit and advised the students to develop their individual selves during their time at school.
Majeediyya School has begun a special five-year countdown for its 100th anniversary. The school was founded in 1927 under the name Madharusathul Salahiyya. The name was changed to Majeediyya by then-President Mohamed Ameen. Majeediyya School first opened with 60 students and now teaches around 1,500 students.
