Food imports to Maldives during Ramadan exceeds past 3 years

Maldives Ports Limited (MPL) has revealed food imported in Ramadan this year exceed the amount of food imported in the past three years.

Speaking at a press conference, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Shahid Ali said the aim of the MPL this Ramadan is to clear food items as soon as possible. In this regard, Shahid noted that changes have also been brought to the operations of the port to achieve the objectives. Citing statistics, he said all shipments brought to the ports have been cleared and delivered to the market. He further added the increase in the import of perishable foods this Ramadan compared to previous years.

The number of goods imported during Ramadan increases every year compared to other months.
