Discussions have been held on seeking assistance from Turkey to strengthen the Halal certification system in the Maldives.
The discussions were held during the meeting held between Minister of Islamic Affairs of the Maldives Dr. Ahmed Zahir Ali and the President of Religious Affairs of Turkey Prof. Dr. Ali Erbas on May 29. The meeting was held as part of Islamic Minister Zahir’s ongoing visit to Turkey.
During the meeting, discussions were held on ways to promote religious awareness in the Maldives and strengthening the longstanding bilateral ties between the Maldives and Turkey. Further discussions focused on extending the assistance of Turkey to strengthen Halal certification as well as the administration of Waqf and Zakat in the Maldives.
The Islamic minister was accompanied at the meeting by Deputy Minister Shafiu Ali, Deputy Director General Abdul Azeez Ismail and the Imam of the Islamic Centre Sheikh Nasrulla Ali.
