Ministry of Economic Development has signed agreements with five information and communications technology (ICT) training providers to conduct training programmes under the COVID-19 Income Support Project.
The agreements were signed by Minister of State for Economic Development Neeza Imad and representatives of Avid College, Cyryx College, MI College, Villa College, and the Maldives National University (MNU).
Under the agreement, the training providers will conduct programmes on cloud and cyber security, multi-media, server and networking, and web design and development. The economic ministry is also accepting applications for interested individuals to participate in training programmes in the areas of accounting and diving.
The COVID-19 Income Support Project is being conducted by the economic ministry with the collaboration of the World Bank. The project aims to mitigate the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on workers and their families and build a resilient community that can overcome similar challenges in the future.
The purpose of the training programmes conducted under the COVID-19 Income Support Project is to upskill job seekers in priority trade areas by extending certificate-level training opportunities that are both locally and internationally recognised through accredited Maldivian training institutes.
