International Teachers’ Conference to be held in October

National Institute of Education (NIE) has announced that the Sixth International Teachers’ Conference will be held in Kulhudhuffushi City from October 9-10 under the theme Current Perspectives and Future Directions.

At a press conference, Director General Ahmed Shakeeb said that NIE was unable to hold the conference last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. He said that the institute attempted to hold the conference online but that attendees can only receive the full benefits by physically attending the conference.

Also at the press conference, Senior Curriculum Analyst Shuhudha Rizwan said this year’s conference will focus on the current perspectives of the education sector and discussions on future directions. She said that attendees will be able to submit their research papers at this year’s conference as well. Interested individuals are required to submit the abstract for their research paper by August 7 and submit the research paper by August 15.

NIE stated it will begin accepting requests for invitation to the conference on August 18. The institute stated that international key note speakers will be attending this year’s event and that invitations will be given out to no more than 250 attendees.

The International Teachers’ Conference is held every two years and is the largest gathering held for teachers in the Maldives. The event is open for teachers and other professions of the education sector including foreign invitees. It is held to academically discuss on changes seen in the education sector and conduct relevant researches. The conference also aims to offer teachers a platform to share their experiences and learn from one another in a context of research and practice.
