President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has urged the students to start the new academic year happily and with new determination. He made the remarks speaking at a special assembly held at Aminiya School to mark the start of the new academic year.
Speaking at a special assembly held at Aminiya School, President Solih said the start of the new academic year is one of the happiest days of the year for students. The president stated attending a school involves many things adding through studying, it is important to acquire moral values, learn lessons and become healthy, fit, and responsible children. He also stressed the importance of helping each other to make the school environment a happy place.
Highlighting the country’s current state and the world, President Solih urged students to be mindful of two essential things: environmental protection and economising. He said that contributing to environmental protection and promoting economics are principles every student should strive to instill in themselves from an early age.
In addition to developing learning experiences and environments for students, President Solih stressed that the administration is leading numerous initiatives to build infrastructure and increase teacher education and technical development opportunities. Expressing his hopes that these initiatives would spark interest in more people to join the education sector and facilitate the hiring of educated and skilled teachers, the president said it would lead to delivering the administration’s goal of building generations of well-educated and productive youth.
The Academic Year 2022-2023 commenced across the country in 271 schools with a total student population of 92,000. As such, 76,000 would attend 217 public schools staffed with over 8,300 teachers.
