Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali has announced that the process of issuing teacher licenses will begin this year as part of efforts to improve the quality of the education system.
In a statement welcoming the new academic year, Minister Aishath stated that all rules and regulations related to the newly implemented Education Act have been developed and will be implemented this academic year. The minister stated that the most important thing entrusted by the Education Act is the safety of students, and thus all those who interact with them must pay close attention to their safety. She added that the well-being of students should always be given top priority.
In reference to the provisions of the Education Act, Minister Aishath stated that one of the top priorities this year will be to improve the quality of the education system. As a result, the minister stated that licenses will be issued this year, further improving the education system.
The minister stated in her address that all school staff and parents should be vigilant in identifying those who interact with students both inside and outside of school and prevent anyone from harming a student. She also asked parents to ensure that the places where their children go to school and participate in activities follow the rules established by the education ministry.
Furthermore, the minister advised students to make resolutions on the first day of the school year and to work together to achieve their goals. She emphasised the importance of parents in teaching and educating their children. She also reminded it is their responsibility to provide a safe and happy environment for children to learn, play, and grow.
