Auditor General highlights importance of standardising financial reports

Auditor General Hussain Niyazi has highlighted the importance of formulating financial reports according to international standards. He made the remarks while speaking at the IFRS and ISAs Forum 2022 held by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of the Maldives (CA Maldives).

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Auditor General Niyaz, who is the President of CA Maldives, highlighted the assistance provided by the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) and thanked for providing technical support for the forum. He also urged everyone in the accounting industry to attend seminars and make the best out of the forum. He added that financial reports should contain accurate information and that inaccuracies would result in disclosures and amendments.

Also at the ceremony, Commissioner General of Taxation Fathuhulla Jameel underlined the value of continuing professional development (CPD) workshops and the advantages they will give for the participants.

The IFRS and ISAs Forum 2022 began on August 20 at the Maldives National University (MNU) Business School Auditorium with 200 participants. The forum covers topics of important standards, new standards, updates and practical application of the standards, which will be delivered by International and local experts from the accounting profession. The featured speakers include Chairman of the BDO Asia Pacific IFRS Group Tan Khoon Yeow and Senior Executive Director at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Siew Kar Wai.
