Gov’t seeks contractors for Manadhoo, Kendhikulhudhoo hospital projects

Ministry of Finance has made an announcement seeking contractors to construct a hospital Kendhikulhudhoo, Noonu Atoll Hospital, and complete the extension work of the Noonu Atoll Hospital in Manadhoo. It is the second time the government opened bidding for the Manadhoo hospital project.

The Manadhoo project consists of developing the extension building for Noonu Atoll Hospital. Ministry of Health stated that the project was previously opened for tender but that contractors had proposed bids that were too expensive. The construction of six outpatient department (OPD) rooms and a laboratory has been completed at the hospital. A contractor was hired to complete the design work of the project. In all, around USD1 million has been allocated in the state budget for the project.

Companies interested in developing the extension building of Noonu Atoll Hospital are required to submit their bids by September 8 with bid security of USD117,000. The companies interested in constructing a hospital in Kendhikulhudhoo are required to submit a bid security of USD45,000.

The government has opened bids for the construction of a number of hospitals, as well as projects to upgrade health centres to hospitals. In May, the health ministry hired a contractor to develop new hospitals in Dhihdhoo in Haa Alifu Atoll, Kudahuvadhoo in Dhaalu Atoll, Alifushi in Raa Atoll, and Villingili in Gaafu Alifu Atoll.
