Kaafu Atoll School reopens after construction of new building

Kaafu Atoll School has reopened and begun holding single-session classes after the construction of the new building.

The new building has solved the space constraints at the school. As such, classes began with 496 students in 16 classrooms at the four-storey building. The school staff now consists of 69 employees.

Ministry of Education contracted W&A Overseas Private Limited to construct the four-storey building and a multipurpose hall in Kaafu Atoll School in 2019. The government initiated the project as part of the efforts to change the schools in the Maldives into a single session.

As part of the project, W&A Overseas built 16 classrooms, two changing rooms, and a toilet at the school, which are easily accessible to children with special needs. The project was funded with USD2.3 million allocated in the Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP).
