Vice President urges to embrace responsibility in society

Vice President Faisal Naseem has said that an educated generation can only be fostered when every individual embraces their role and responsibility in society. He made the statement while addressing the gathering held to inaugurate Kaamil Didi Primary School, the first school to be opened in Hulhumalé phase 2.

Speaking at the ceremony, Vice President Naseem said that parents send their children to school with high hopes and that the nation has high expectations for the future of students. He noted the role of teachers, parents, and the government in facilitating the process of building an educated generation of youth. He said that these feats could only be achieved through collective effort rather than ad-hoc individual efforts.

Elaborating on the virtues of education, Vice President Naseem said that students who graduate should be equipped with the skills and knowledge to face the challenges of everyday life. He added that school leavers must be productive members of society who are capable of earning a living by utilising the skills they learned. He also emphasised the importance of exemplifying good behaviour, saying that nurture is pivotal in instilling it in future generations. He advised communities to model proper morals and ethics in order for children to learn these values.

In his speech, Vice President Naseem also shed light on the life of Ahmed Kaamil Didi, after whom the school is named. He spoke about Kaamil Didi’s contributions to Dhivehi literature and the development of the education sector.

Kaamil Didi Primary School in Hulhumalé phase 2 is located adjacent to the Hiya Towers. The school opened with 824 students and 65 staff, including 47 teachers.
