President says minibus service will bring relief to Male'

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stated the newly introduced minibus service in Male' will provide a relief to the people living in the heavily populated capital city.

In a tweet, President Solih said the minibus service strengthens the pledge of the administration to improve public transportation across the Maldives. He added the service would see further improvement in the future.

MTCC commenced the minibus service in Male' on September 5. The minibuses will be travelling on Majeedhee Magu, Ameenee Magu, Orchid Magu, and Fareedhee Magu. A total of 12 buses are being used for the service.

MTCC stated that the service will be free of charge during the first two weeks and after that USD 0.45 will be charged for each person per trip. However, school students, disabled persons, senior citizens, and children under three years of age will be able to travel on the minibuses free of charge throughout the duration of the service.
