RDC agrees to conduct apprenticeship programme

Road Development Corporation (RDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment to conduct an apprenticeship programme.

As per the MoU, RDC opened 65 slots for young individuals who are interested in participating in the apprenticeship programme. The company will provide training opportunities and an allowance for those chosen for the six-month programme. Participants will receive a level-3 certificate upon completion of the programme, which will adhere to the Maldives National Skills Development Authority (MNSDA) national competency standards.

The youth ministry is working to train over 3,000 young individuals under the National Apprenticeship Programme in collaboration with private companies and state-owned companies, as well as the MNSDA. The purpose of the programme is to train young people, especially the marginalised youth, in various skills to allow them to become job-ready and productive members of society. Currently, 250 individuals are participating in apprenticeship programmes being conducted by 11 companies.
