IUM states a scientific community is forming in Maldives

The Islamic University of the Maldives (IUM) has stated a scientific community is being formed in the Maldives. The remark was made by Vice Chancellor Dr. Ibrahim Zakariyya Moosa after the closing ceremony of the International Conference on Intellectual Advancement.

Speaking to PSM News, Vice Chancellor Zakariyya said the conference was successful in showing that there is a growing community of scientists and researchers in the Maldives. Zakariyya said this year's conference is significantly better than last year's in terms of the quality of research papers, which shed light on the workings of the country. He noted the diversity of research papers submitted for the conference and assured IUM will work to hold an even better conference next year.

The International Conference on Intellectual Advancement was held from September 17-18 and consisted of 12 foreign guests and 218 participants from the Maldives. A total of 48 research papers were submitted to the conference, which was related to social science, educational research, Quranic studies, Shariah and Law, tourism, technology, and the environment. In addition, research papers were also submitted on the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
