Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) successfully performs a major kidney stone removal operation.
The operation was performed by a Maldivian team of doctors from the Urology Department of IGMH. The team was led by two consultant subspecialists in urology Dr. Ibrahim Misbah and Dr. Abdulla Adsar.
IGMH stated that the patient who underwent the operation is now recovering. About 15 stones were removed from the patient's kidney, according to photos released by the government-owned hospital.
It is the first such operation successfully conducted by a team of Maldivian doctors. The operation was conducted with the participation of anesthesiologists and theater nurses.
