MWSC tests Veymandoo sewerage system

Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has completed and tested the sewerage system in Veymandoo, Thaa Atoll. The testing was conducted from September 26-28.

Ministry of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure said the sewerage system will provide services to 497 households on the island. Under the project, a 10.31km sewerage system has been installed in Veymandoo and three pump stations have been installed. The ministry said the water and sewerage system will be tested, commissioned, and handed over to Fenaka Corporation Limited.

The previous administration contracted the project to develop the sewerage system to an Indian company for USD9.6 million to be completed within 18 months. However, the company failed to complete the project within the period. As a result, the current administration nullified the agreement in October 2020 and awarded the contract to MWSC to complete the pending works of the project.
