The government has conducted training for 25,178 education sector employees with 1,103 opportunities provided for education workers to pursue higher education abroad.
The government has been providing various training programmes and scholarships in the education sector. The academic qualifications of teachers are also being increased in addition to the salaries. The government has so far provided 1,103 opportunities for education workers to pursue higher education abroad. Many of these opportunities were provided to teachers. As such, a total of 748 teachers and 110 leading teachers have been given the opportunity. In addition, 174 principals and 20 deputy principals were given the opportunity to study abroad. Moreover, most teachers now receive wages in excess of USD1,200 following the implementation of changes announced for the wage structure of the education sector. Most teachers classified under Rank 2 will receive the highest increment, with their monthly wages increasing from USD800 to USD1,260. Additionally, teachers classified under Rank 1 will receive an increment from USD700 to USD860. He added higher rank teachers will all receive in excess of USD1,200, with Rank 5 teachers expected to receive USD1,680. Meanwhile, principals will receive even larger increments under the new pay structure, with the lowest rank principals also receiving an 82% increment from USD1,080 to USD1,980. Rank 2 and Rank 3 principals will receive USD2,140 and USD2,300 respectively under the new pay structure.
