National Drug Agency (NDA) has revealed that it will be providing employment opportunities for recovered addicts to prevent them from relapsing after being released back into society.
Speaking at a press conference, Deputy Minister of Health Shamau Shareef said one of the main issues faced by a recovered addict is going back to using drugs after rehabilitation only to seek treatment again. He said the process is known as relapsing and individuals who stop using drugs may experience it.
Furthermore, Deputy Minister Shamau said these issues can only be solved by working together to bring changes to an individual's environment and lifestyle habits. He said that providing employment opportunities to individuals can solve such issues. He said that agreements have already been signed with some companies and job opportunities will be created for recovered addicts.
Additionally, Shamau said the biggest solution to getting people off drugs completely is to change the public's attitude toward them. He said that the person who gets treated from NDA can move forward on the right path if they are given adequate support from society.
