Gov’t commences value education programme for students

Vice President Faisal Naseem has inaugurated a value education programme for students called The Leader in Me.

At the inauguration ceremony, Minister of Education Dr. Aishath Ali said the purpose of the programme is to assist schools in instilling students with positive values and attitudes in line with the national curriculum. As such, she said the programme will teach students values related to the individual, the family, the nation, and the environment, adding students will also be taught the importance of honesty, loyalty, and upholding Islamic principles.

Additionally, Minister Aishath said students will be taught how to work with people and be involved in the community. She expressed confidence that students will be able to thrive in the ever-changing modern world after participating in the programme.

The value education programme aims to help foster students’ positive values and attitudes through teaching and learning in various key learning areas. The thought-provoking life skills taught through the programme, targeting students in grades 9-12, will align with the national curriculum. The programme is facilitated by prominent life coaches and speakers, Masood Ali and Hussain Afeef.
