President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has attended the closing ceremony of the Nestle' Kids’ Football Fiesta. The tournament was held at the Henveiru Football Stadium from October 19-22.
The tournament was organised by the Soccer Veterans Association of Maldives (SVAM) and saw the participation of 720 students from 20 schools in the Male' region. The tournament targeted students in grades three and four.
President Solih presented the championship trophy and medals at the ceremony to the winning teams. He was also presented with a commemorative plaque of appreciation by the organiser. Minister of Youth, Sports, and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof, Minister of Education Aishath Ali, and tournament sponsors and school officials were also present at the ceremony.
Iskandar School won the third-grade category by defeating Rehendhi School and Jamaluddin School won the fourth-grade category by defeating Kamil Didi School in the final. The runner-ups were presented with trophies and medals by Education Minister Aishath Ali and third-place teams and players were presented with trophies and medals by Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof.
Speaking at the awards ceremony held after the final match, Chairman Soccer Veterans Ali Shameem said the objective of the tournament has been achieved and said the support and cooperation of the government and institutions is the secret of its success. He also said that President Solih's participation in the ceremony was a great honor for the entire tournament.
SVAM also held a fiesta in Male' City this year targeted to students in grades one and two.
