President urges youth to make good use of Gov't opportunities

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has urged the youth to make good use of the opportunities being provided by the government for education. He made the statement while speaking at the official function held at the Maldives Centre for Social Education (MCSE) to mark National Youth Day.

Speaking at the official function, President Solih said the government wants to create a young generation to run the country with technology. He said that no matter how low-income a job is, working to achieve self-sufficiency will benefit the youth and society as a whole.

Furthermore, President Solih noted that the increase in youth employment will bring many benefits to society. He said it will provide solutions to many existing social problems, including keeping them away from crime and reducing their financial dependence on others.

Additionally, President Solih also said that the lack of employment opportunities in the islands was due to the lack of development and reliable transportation to the islands. He said the causes of unemployment are disappearing with the ongoing water and sewerage project and the Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry system currently being developed. He noted that the RTL ferry and bus services have created more than 300 jobs.

In conclusion, President Solih said the expansion of the RTL ferry system to all atolls in the Maldives would create a total of 1,000 jobs including additional administrative and technical jobs. He said 321 youths are currently undergoing training from 14 different companies under the National Apprenticeship Programme.
