Maldives National Association for Construction Industry (MNACI) has stated that 400 investors from 22 countries will join the 45th International Federation of Asian and Western Pacific Contractors' Associations (IFAWPCA) convention to be held in the Maldives.
President of MNACI Mohamed Ali Janah said the convention will be the largest gathering of business people in the Maldives and that it will be an opportunity to show the potential for investment in the country. He detailed that the first session will be joined by cabinet ministers who will describe the lucrative investment opportunities.
Furthermore, Janah said that the investors who participate in the convention will get to tour the major development sites in the Maldives and will receive information regarding all the business opportunities available in the country. He added that the government fully supports the convention and that MNACI has sent an invitation to President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.
The 45th FAWPCA convention will be held from November 15-19 under the theme Construction with Conservation - Build a Better World. The annual convention is the largest event held regionally for the construction sector. All Asia Pacific countries will present country reports at the five-day convention. The convention will be attended by 20 Asia Pacific countries and about 10 United Nations (UN) associations.
It is the first time Maldives is hosting an IFAWPCA Convention. The convention has been delayed twice due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The previous edition was held in Malaysia.
