Job Centre receives over 47,000 applications

Job Centre has received over 47,000 applications for its various services.

Job Centre operates under the Ministry of Economic Development. The online portal makes it easy for employers to announce job postings and for individuals to choose their preferred place of employment. It provides services for employers to shortlist applicants, facilitate interviews, and assist individuals in fulfilling the requirements to apply for jobs.

Speaking to PSM News, Senior manager Aishath Leeza said Job Centre has received 47,000 applications so far including for this year’s government-funded training and apprenticeship programmes, and self-employed support programmes. She detailed that 3,000 applications were submitted for the training and apprenticeship programmes, 15,000 applications were for the self-employed support programmes, and 7,000 individuals have registered to seek employment.

Job Centre stated that 11,935 applications have so far been submitted for job announcements. Job seekers are on average between 18-24 years, while those who seek other services range between 20-35 years. The centre is also helping recent school graduates who wish to enter the job market by holding information sessions for students of grades 10-12 in the atolls.
