IASL procures ATR aircraft for peak season

Island Aviation Services Limited (IASL) has procured an ATR aircraft for the national airline, Maldivian, for use in the peak season.

IASL procured the ATR aircraft for temporary use during the peak season, as the three ATR aircraft it had ordered are being delayed. Deputy Managing Director Aishath Jennifer said two of the aircraft will be brought in in December while the third will be brought in the first quarter of next year. She added that the temporary ATR aircraft now being used will be released once the other aircraft arrive.

IASL has acquired two ATR 72s and one ATR 42 aircraft for domestic and international flights. The ATR 72 has a seating capacity of 74 passengers and ATR 42 has a capacity of 50 passengers. The new aircraft will have low fuel consumption and low maintenance costs.
