MQA conducts audit to ensure quality of higher education

Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ibrahim Hassan has said that the Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA) is conducting an audit of higher education institutions to ensure the quality of education provided to students.

Speaking to PSM News, Minister Hassan said the number of students studying in higher education has increased significantly with the government providing more education opportunities. He said the proportion of young students who are passing with good results is increasing and employers are looking at their qualifications before they employ them. He said the quality of education provided to students with higher education opportunities should be ensured.

Therefore, Minister Hassan said MQA is conducting an audit of higher education institutions. He said that the audit currently includes two universities, four colleges, and three institutes in the Maldives. He also said that the audit will look at the education system provided by the institutions and whether they are being implemented.

Additionally, Minister Hassan said the institutions are also doing a lot of work to improve the quality of education provided following the implementation of the Higher Education Act. He said that free undergraduate and loan opportunities have been increased to provide higher education opportunities, adding that scholarship opportunities are also being increased.

In conclusion, Minister Hassan said that the government has also started providing these opportunities to the atolls of the Maldives as part of its efforts to provide expand higher education opportunities in the country.
