USD3 million from Zakat Fund spent on treatment

Ministry of Islamic Affairs has revealed that USD3 million has been spent from the Zakat Fund for medical treatment in the past four years.

The statistics from the Islamic ministry show that the largest expenditure was made this year. As such, USD1 million was spent from the Zakat Fund for medical treatment in 2019, USD402,000 was spent in 2020, USD720,000 was spent in 2021, and USD1 million was spent so far this year. The statistics show that USD3 million was spent in total in the past four years.

Zakat Fund is used to providing financial assistance to patients suffering from cancer, eye diseases, heart diseases, kidney problems, and autism. The fund is also used to pay medical bills and transplant operations.

The government uses the Zakat Fund to assist those in need of funding for medical treatment and education. The fund is also used to renovate mosques and fund other projects related to the public.
