MBS holds workshop on the use of Census 2022 data

Maldives Bureau of Statistics (MBS) has held a workshop on the use of Census 2022 data.

The workshop was held to provide information to the managers and technicians involved in the census on how to use the data collected so far. The workshop was jointly conducted by experts from the Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century (PARIS21), according to MBS.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the workshop, Minister of National Planning, Housing and Infrastructure Mohamed Aslam said the data collected in the census should not be kept disclosed and should be accessible to the public.

Meanwhile, the CEO of the Local Government Authority (LGA) Fathimath Afshan Latheef said the information collected as data is important and useful, but how to make the most of it should be considered.

The census was conducted for the first time this year after eight years. Although the data collection has been officially completed, MBS will be contacting households that have not been reached by enumerators during the census.
