Health centres in Landhoo and Maroshi expanded

Ministry of Health has revealed that the development of the extension buildings to increase the space of the health centres in Landhoo and Maroshi in Shaviyani Atoll has been opened and is in operation.

The extension buildings were inaugurated by Minister of State for Health Ahmed Adil. A special ceremony was held to open the extension buildings of the health centres in Landhoo and Maroshi. The ceremony was attended by the heads of the health centres and heads of the island institutions from both islands.

All administrative work has now been transferred to the extension buildings. However, doctors and admitting services will be provided from the old buildings.

The extension building for the health centre in Landhoo was built at a cost of USD278,000. The island has a population of over 1,100. The extension building for the health centre in Maroshi was built at a cost of USD250,000 from the state budget. Maroshi is relatively small although the population of the island is close to 900.
