CNN International has revealed that the Maldives has topped the World's Most Welcoming Countries of 2022 list.
The list, researched and compiled by CNN, ranks the Maldives as the number one safest destination in the world. The list includes countries based on a number of factors. These include how many countries are visa-free to enter, visa on arrival, and the safety and security of tourists, according to CNN. The Maldives has been ranked number one on the list of the easiest and most welcoming countries to travel around the world, along with 24 other countries. Malaysia is fourth on the list compared to the Maldives and other neighboring countries. Bhutan is on the list of least open countries and North Korea, Turkmenistan, and Afghanistan are among the most difficult countries for tourists to travel to.
Ministry of Tourism stated that two million tourists have visited the Maldives so far in 2022. The government aims to attract 1.6 million tourists by the end of the year.
