Huawei to provide assistance Smart City Project

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Huawei Technologies Lanka Private Limited to provide technical assistance in the Smart City Project.

Under the agreement, Huawei will provide technical expertise to design and implement smart city solutions in Hulhumale'. The agreement was signed by Managing Director HDC Ahmed Athif and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Huawei Technologies Lanka Tao Guangyao.

HDC stated the collaborative partnership with Huawei will benefit the project. It will pave the way for the experience and digital solutions needed to transform Hulhumale' into the first smart city in the Maldives, according to the state-owned company.

Meanwhile, CEO Tao Guangyao said that Huawei will work to share its global experience on smart cities, smart tourism, and smart education in order to help the Maldives accelerate its digital transformation.

With an ambitious vision of building smart and connected communities, HDC is paving the way for Hulhumale' to become a digitally thriving smart city under a unique brand called Smartcom. Accordingly, HDC has been investing in digital infrastructure, identifying and leveraging new technologies and smart solutions to bring about sustainable urban development, ensuring social participation, increasing mobility, and creating a safer, cleaner environment and a liveable city.
