Maldives stresses strong bonds of trust and goodwill with Qatar

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih has stressed the strong bonds of trust and goodwill between the Maldives and Qatar. He made the statement during a meeting with the Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ooredoo Group Aziz Aluthman Fakhroo, and the senior management of the company. He is currently on an official visit to Qatar at the invitation of Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

At the meeting, President Solih spoke about Ooredoo Maldives and noted the company has played an essential role in strengthening technological cooperation and the overall development partnership between the Maldives and Qatar. He commended the corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives of Ooredoo around the globe, including in the areas of health, nutrition, women's empowerment, and disaster risk reduction. He also spoke about its digital literacy programme, accelerator programme aimed to provide a platform for youth innovations, and Hulhumale’ Smart City initiative to help bridge the digital divide in the Maldives.

The meeting concluded with both sides expressing hope for Ooredoo to continue providing the latest telecommunications services in the Maldives, and expand its contributions to Maldivian society.
