Mosque with capacity of 700 worshippers to be built in Gan

Ministry of Islamic Affairs has handed over the development of a mosque in Gan, Laamu Atoll, to Fedo Private Limited.

The agreement of the venture was signed by the Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr. Ahmed Zahir and the Managing Director of Fedo Ahmed Fayaaz. The newly developed mosque with a capacity of 700 worshippers is being developed with USD1 million from the Public Sector Investment Programme (PSIP) budget of the government.

Speaking at the signing ceremony, Minister Zahir requested the contractor to complete the project within the scheduled time frame. He also noted that the newly constructed mosques are built in different beautiful designs and the government encourages quality completion of the mosques in accordance with the designs.

Speaking at the ceremony, Parliamentarian Mohamed Wisam highlighted the government's efforts to build mosques across the country. He also noted that the Islamic ministry closely monitored the progress of the previously built mosque in Gan and stated the new mosque will solve space constraints.

The mosque, which can accommodate 700 people, will be open to both men and women. The mosque is scheduled to be completed in 365 days.
